Kannur International Airport is a Greenfield airport being setup under the Public Private Partnership (“PPP”) model. KIAL has been promoted by Govt. of Kerala with equity participation from PSUs (BPCL and Kerala PSUs), Airport PSUs and private sector participation. The Airport is located close to Mattannur in Kannur district of Kerala. The Airport has been planned for development in phases.
BPCL KIAL Fuel Farm Private Limited (BKFFPL) is a Joint Venture Company of BPCL and KIAL with 74:26 equity shareholding respectively. The Company was incorporated as a Private Limited Company on May 18th 2015 to design, develop, construct, manage, maintain, upgrade and operate the Aviation Fuel farm with allied facilities and hydrant system at both domestic and international terminals of Kannur International Airport for the supply of ATF on exclusive basis. Accordingly, BKFFPL has the right to operate the fuel farm at the Kannur International Airport for a period of 30 years, extendable by an additional period of 30 years on mutually agreed terms and conditions.
BKFFPL Inauguration
The formal inauguration of BPCL-KIAL Fuel Farm was done on 14th March 2019 by Mr. V Tulasidas (Retd IAS), Managing Director (Kannur International Airport Ltd.), in presence of Mr. Vijay Ranjan, CGM Ops & JVs (Aviation), Mr. P M Kamath, CEO (BPCL-KIAL Fuel Farm Pvt. Ltd.), Mr.Prabir Das, Team Leader (Technical Service, Aviation), Mr. Vijay Rao, Aviation Manager (South), Mr. S Jayakrishnan, CFO (Kannur International Airport Ltd),Mr. K P Jose, ED (Engineering – KIAL), making a mile stone of infrastructure developed in Kerala.
BPCL-KIAL Fuel Farm Private Limited (BKFFPL) is Joint Venture Company of Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. and Kannur International Airport Ltd. with 74:26 respective equity shareholding which was incorporated on . This JVC has constructed and owned the Aviation Fuel Farm facilities in Kannur International Airport, the New Green Filed Airport in Northern Kerala. Authorized Capital for Construction of Fuel Farm is Rs.18 Cr. with Equity – Debt ratio of 1:1.
Total ATF storage capacity of the facility is 990 KL with 2 No. of above ground tanks with capacity of 450KL each and 2 No. of under ground tanks with capacity of 45KL each. For the Unloading of Tank Lorries and Loading of Refueller 4 bay gantry has set up. The joint venture company has appointed BPCL E&P (Engineering & Projects) as Project Management Consultancy. Mr. Rajkumar was the project leader who has coordinated the project from PMC side.
The joint venture Company has appointed BPCL as the Operator with full responsibility for operation and maintenance of the said fuel farm for sale of ATF of BPCL and other oil companies on the open access principle on the terms that may be agreed between JV Company with the ATF selling companies.
The ITP operation of the fuel farm was inaugurated by Mr.Prasad Panicker, Chairman (BPCL-KIAL Fuel Farm Pvt. Ltd.) along with the commercial opening of Kannur International Airport.
As part of the inauguration tree plantation has done by MD KIAL in BPCL-KIAL Fuel Farm premise.
